Singapore family holidays

Singapore is safe, clean and easy with children, with superb zoos, gardens and food. Four or five nights covers it; add Bali or a Malaysian island for a beach finish.

What we'd suggest

  • Pairing

Singapore + Bali is a favourite ten-day family journey.

Planning Singapore from India

When to go
Year-round. February to April tends to be drier; the city is built for heat and rain.
Getting there
Direct flights from Delhi take around five and a half to six hours.
Visa & entry
Indian passport holders need a visa for Singapore. Rules and processing times change, so we confirm the current requirements when you book, prepare the document checklist with you, and help schedule any appointments.

Places worth the time

  • Marina Bay

The modern face of Singapore wraps around the bay: the three towers and SkyPark of Marina Bay Sands, the durian-shaped Esplanade theatres and the Merlion spouting water at the river mouth. A waterfront promenade links them all and is lovely in the cooler evening air.

  • Gardens by the Bay

Two vast glass conservatories, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest with its indoor waterfall, sit beside the Supertree Grove, steel trees planted with ferns and orchids. The scale and engineering are remarkable, and the gardens are as rewarding for children as for keen gardeners.

  • Sentosa

Linked to the city by cable car, monorail and road, Sentosa gathers beaches, a large theme park, an oceanarium and beach clubs on one compact island. It makes for an easy, sociable day with children, with quieter stretches at Tanjong and Palawan beaches.

  • Mandai Wildlife Reserve

In the north of the island, secondary rainforest and the Upper Seletar Reservoir surround the Singapore Zoo, River Wonders and Bird Paradise, each built around open, naturalistic enclosures rather than cages. The Night Safari, the world's first nocturnal zoo, is a quietly thrilling experience after dark.

  • Chinatown

Restored shophouses line streets of traditional medicine halls, tea merchants and lively hawker stalls. The quarter's mix of faiths is striking: the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, the Sri Mariamman Temple and an early mosque all stand within a few minutes' walk of one another.
